Mainframe zOS Admin-L3 : Relevant Experience

in Yrs) 10 15 Years Must Have Technical / Functional Skills Strong Hands-on experience in z / OS and ISV Products installation, customization and upgrade using SMP / E Experience Required 10 15 Years Roles & Responsibilities

• Install, customize, test, implement, document, and support independent software vendor (ISV) products as required (this includes user modifications that require customization for release levels or related to site requirements) and work with the vendors on problems and resolution.
• Use IBM SMP / e to successfully receive and apply z / OS software and other related software on an IBM Mainframe. This includes interpreting SMP / e output messages to resolve software installation issues and requirements, use SMP / e panels to manage software installation packages, define SMP / e required parameters to successfully install and maintain OS and associated software products.
• Experience working with z / OS, JES2, SMP / E, TSO, IOCP / HCD, Parallel Sysplex
• The candidate will be required to provide production off hour coverage (if necessary) and support periodic weekend implementations.
• Create, populate, secure and troubleshoot IBM z / OS USS (UNIX Systems Services) file systems and mount points. Manage the USS environment on an IBM z / OS mainframe platform.
• Create / update and debug z / OS parameters using PARMLIB
• Plan, create and update accurate, detailed documentation for IBM z / OS mainframe platform software / hardware installation / upgrades.
• Use IBM z / OS mainframe communications products, including Virtual Telecommunications Access Method (VTAM), Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP / IP), and File Transfer Protocol (FTP).
• Create, update, and debug Job Entry Subsystem (JES2) parameters and statements.
• Fully understand z / OS services structure, JES concepts, parallel sysplex, Catalog management
• Expertise in tuning and debugging performance problems for z / OS systems including application workloads.
• Perform problem diagnostics and resolution. Monitor system performance and tune when required.
• Capable of z / OS Performance Analysis using various tools such as IBM's RMF, SMF and subsystem analysis tools
• Knowledge in designing CFRM structures.
• Installing z / OS upgrade knowledge

Mainframe Storage Admin (L3) :

Relevant Experience

• Lead Storage (Tape and DASD) Admin with experience in refresh projects, including plan, design and implementation with minimum disruption to the business, back out procedure, and execution coordination.
• Expertise with DASD - HDS (G5500, G1000), IBM storage environments in a z / OS operating system
• Good knowledge of IBM Tape environment (VTS, TS7700)
• Strong Hands-on experience in DFSMS, ICF Catalogs, ICKDSF, Backup and Restore Utilities
• Disaster Recovery planning, configuration, and testing at regular intervals.
• Perform daily storage management, product upgrades and configuration.
• Individual Contributor who can work on transformational tasks, critical issues & continuous improvement of Storage Environment Technical Skills
• Review, approve and coordinate Storage related changes.
• Prepare and submit storage related I / O gen request to the Hardware team, review I / O gen report for accuracy.
• Knowledge of 3rd party storage management products and reporting tools
• Responsible for service delivery. The storage administrator will also execute all backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and related capabilities.

Volume space and capacity management

• Evaluates capacity utilization and initiates projects to address areas of excess and shortages proactively and reports to management.
• Maintain documentation of the storage environment.

• Expertise required in Mainframe System Automation tools , IBM SA for z / OS and CA OPS / MVS.
• Good experience in dealing with Migration projects - CA-OPS / MVS to IBM System Automation.
• Understand IPL scripts and make modifications, implement Automation alerts for event management for threshold alert management.
• Define new subsystems, STCs to Automation
• Proficiency in REXX, CLIST and Netview PIPE Programming.
• Responsible for developing & deploying automated solutions across the infrastructure to eliminate manual intervention, including automated IPLs, application recovery and auto ticket generation.
• Expected to support Automation application through various upgrade / maintenance activities, z / OS upgrades, Data Centre consolidation, CPU Refreshes etc...
• Need to support inherited client automation code, implement & support infrastructure critical event management, remote console access & paging.
• Responsible for all automation tool functionality, design, integration, and implementation.
• Transform client automation to standard toolset and experience in working with multiple complexes / LPARs support.
• Good understanding of Infrastructure restores process during DR activities & tests.
• Required Involvement in feasibility studies and recommending mainframe automation solutions across all the mainframe environments.
• Excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
• Should have good understanding of ITIL Process & Procedures and ability to perform diagnostics & RCA.
• Should be a self-starter with ability to work alone or in a team, able to meet challenging deadlines & ability to do multitasking.
• The job function required strong analytical & documentation skills along with excellent communication.
• The Engineer is responsible to provide 24 / 7 Automation on-call support on a rotational basis for multiple customers.
